We had a visit from Matt Shepherd on Fri Oct 17. Matt is currently a graduate student in the Department of Physics at Cornell University where he is working on a PhD in experimental particle physics with the CLEO group at CESR (Cornell's electron storage ring). Matt was an honors physics student during the 1996-1997 academic year and the following year he was an AI for the course. Matt worked with our research group for most of his undergrad career and also spent the summer after his freshmen year working at the Jefferson Lab electron accelerator as an undergrad researcher and another summer working at CERN - in Geneva Switzerland. Matt won a Goldwater Scholarship and in his early days as an undergrad Matt also did some research on sonoluminscence.
